Marian Day of Preparation today for Consecration of the World to Our Lady's Immaculate Heart tomorrow

October 13th is the anniversary of the last apparition of Our Lady in Fatima, in 1917, when thousands of people, including journalists and unbelievers, witnessed the "miracle of the sun".

This afternoon at 4:45 pm to 6pm (Italian time, GMT+2h) Pope Francis will preside over the prayers for the Marian day in St. Peter's Sq. The original statue of Our Lady of Fatima from Portugal will be taken on a VIA MATRIS route around the square and then will be taken around inside Vatican City.

From 7pm to 10:15pm the statue will be in the Shrine of Divino Amore, where the Holy Rosary will be recited at the same time with various Marian shrines of tge world.

Tomorrow, after celebrating the Holy Mass, Pope Francis will consecrate the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, at noon, during the Angelus.

On October 13th 1917, Our Lady said: "I have come to exhort the faithful to change their lives, to avoid grieving Our Lord by sin; to pray the Rosary. I desire in this place a chapel in my honor. If people mend their ways, the war will soon be over."

Also on that day 70,000 people witnessed the Miracle of the Sun at Fatima.
