Pray for and Support Bishop Martin Drennan

The Catholic Bishop of Galway Martin Drennan has sought clarification on a grant made by the St Vincent de Paul (SVP) Society to a resource centre for LGBT people in the city which he objects to on moral grounds. Please pray for Bishop Martin Drennan and let him know of your support for him at this time when he is being attacked by the media and the LGBT community over his stance on the money (€45,000) handed over to them by the St. Vincent De Paul Society.  I wonder how many impoverished families are left without because of this.  I have heard that many people will no longer support the St. Vincent De Paul Society over this.  Many people who are in dire need will suffer as a result of this decision.

Bl. Frederic Ozanam set up the St. Vincent De Paul Society in the 19th century specifically to help the poor and the most needy.  In todays Ireland, poverty is not as extreme as it was in Bl. Frederic's time but there are still great needs most especially amongst families who are struggling on a daily basis and who need help to educate and feed their children.

Let us pray for Bishop Brennan and for charity in this situation from all sides.
