Confraternity for Priests (Ireland)

I just read the post on Dom Mark Kirby's blog (of Silverstream Priory in Stamullen, Co. Meath) regarding the setting up of a new Confraternity of Priest Adorers.

He writes;

Why a new confraternity for priests?
The Confraternity of Priest Adorers of the Eucharistic Face of Jesus responds to the need and desire of many priests, young and old, to unite among themselves specifically for the adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament, and to support one another in persevering in prayer.

All the information is available at his blog here:  Vultus Christi

It is wonderful to see a Confraternity of Priests in Ireland and I will certainly continue to pray for the development of that.  There are Confraternities for Priests in other countries some of which I have listed below.  The Confraternity in Australia also has an Associate Membership for the Laity and other religious who wish to support diocesan Priests.  All of these Confraternities are for those Priests and Laity who wish to remain faithful to the Magisterium of the Church.

There are Confraternities for Priests in the UK, USA and Australia and other countries, some of which I have linked to here;

  1. Hi Anne,
    Good to see you giving the Confraternity of Priest Adorers a 'plug' - I posted on them previously myself. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is both a privilege and a duty of all Christians. It is truly heartbreaking that many denominations fail to understand its importance (including, sadly, most Anglicans - but at least not all). And of course it is part of the pain of our lack of unity that I myself would not be eligible to join this fraternity ... but, DV, the day will come when that is no longer the case.

    1. I think we need to pray a little bit more for an Irish Ordinariate Fr. O. Tomorrow is the Feast of the Sacred Heart and the Priesthood is so precious to the Heart of Our Lord. I am sure he would want us to pray for this intention especially in this month of June which is also the Month of the Sacred Heart. So I will begin to pray for this tonight and also ask the intercession of Bl. John Henry Newman for this too and we will continue to pray for as long as it takes. God bless you...

    2. Thank you for that, Anne. Prayers are so important - as is getting the word on Irish Catholic blogs & other forms of Catholic oriented media. The reason I say this is that while there are relatively few CofI folk currently who would be interested in an Ordinariate, there are probably quite a number who have left the CofI for the Catholic Church over the years; & the Ordinariate may be of interest to them &, as far as I know, they would be eligible to join. If they did, & in sufficient numbers to get things off the ground, then having an existing Ordinariate in place might serve to attract others ... we'll see ... but in the meanwhile, thanks again for your prayers!

    3. I have put a Prayer to Bl. John Henry Newman for that specific intention for An Irish Ordinariate in my side bar. Hopefully it will get others to pray for this very important intention. God bless you Fr. O and Good night.
