Prayers and Aid for the Philippines in Ireland and Catholic Church of England & Wales

*Archbishop Diarmuid Martin of the Archdiocese of Dublin will celebrate Mass in the Pro Cathedral on Sunday evening next (17th Nov) at 6.30pm.

A collection will also be taken up in all Dioceses at all Masses for both Syria and the Philippines next Sunday.

*The Catholic Bishops of England and Wales, at this week's Bishops' Conference plenary in Leeds, called for prayers to be offered for the people of the Philippines, following the intense storm last weekend.

Early indications are that over 10,000 people have died and over 10 million have been affected by Typhoon Haiyan, with up to a million made homeless.

Mass will be offered for the Philippines and the Filipino community at Westminster Cathedral at 5.30pm on Friday 15th November.

My heart goes out to all those who are suffering so much in the Philippines now.  I can only feel so helpless as I look on so much destruction and devastation.  I pray to Our Lord to help them and Lord bless all those who are assisting them and bless their efforts.  The people here have no food or water, no shelter, no home, can you imagine what that is like ?   Lord help us to pray for all those who are suffering and give and be grateful for all that we have.
