Despite the vast treasury of Saints and their writings and wisdom, the innumerable documents from the Church, the Holy Bible itself, the Catholic Ireland website chooses its Thought for the Day from a dissident Catholic Priest, Fr. Richard Rohr. Fr. Rohr needs prayers, not encouragement in his errors. I find this very discouraging that a Catholic website that goes into almost every Diocesan website in Ireland promotes the writings of this Priest whose ideas are far from Catholic. It is important that we pray for all our Priests but also protect the Church and its flock from error and false teachings and we can do this by contacting the party concerned or the Bishops Conference. As laity we have a duty to protect and uphold the teachings of Christ and His Church. We are all sinners but we help each other along the way by bringing each other to the truth and gently chastising one another when in error. This is called fraternal love and charity. If we leave people in their errors we are not truly caring for their eternal salvation and can be guilty before the Lord for doing or saying nothing.
O Blood and Water which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a Fount of Mercy for us, I Trust in You. Our Lady of Mercy pray for our Priests and Bishops. All you Holy Saints and Martyrs pray for us.

Thought for the Day....24th September, Our Lady of Mercy
Extract from the Pope Leo XIII, Encyclical Octobri
Mense (September 22, 1891), 3, 5-6:
"No other reason is needed than that of a Divine faith
which, by a powerful and most pleasant impulse, persuades us towards Mary.
Nothing is more natural, nothing more desirable than to seek a refuge in the
protection and in the loyalty of her to whom we may confess our designs and our
actions, our innocence and our repentance, our torments and our joys, our
prayers and our desires. All men, moreover, are filled with the hope and
confidence that petitions which might be received with less favor from the lips
of unworthy men, God will accept when they are recommended by the most Holy
Mother, and will grant with all favors.
