Cardinal Karol Wojtyla (now Bl. and soon to be Saint John Paul II) said these words in the United States in 1976....
We are now standing in the face of the greatest historical
confrontation humanity has ever experienced. I do not think the wide
circle of the American Society, or the wide circle of the Christian Community
realize this fully. We are now facing the final confrontation between the
Church and the anti-church, between the Gospel and the anti-gospel, between
Christ and the antichrist. This confrontation lies within the plans of
Divine Providence. It is, therefore, in God’s Plan, and it must be a trial
which the Church must take up, and face courageously…
We must prepare ourselves to suffer great trials before
long, such as will demand of us a disposition to give up even life, and a total
dedication to Christ and for Christ. With your and my prayers, it is
possible to mitigate the coming tribulation, but it is no longer possible to
avert it, because only thus can the Church be effectually renewed. How
many times has the renewal of the Church sprung from the shedding of
blood? This time too, it will not be otherwise. We must be strong
and prepared and trust in Christ and in his Holy Mother and be very, very
assiduous in praying the holy rosary.
In the Year 2000, Saint Faustina was canonised by Pope John Paul II who also declared the second Sunday of Easter, Divine Mercy Sunday on that same day. Our Lord is speaking to us to warn us and to beg us to return to His Mercy before it is too late. And here we are thirteen years later...

Jesus said to St. Faustina the following ;
You will prepare the world for My final coming. (Diary 429)
Speak to the world about My mercy ... It is a sign for the
end times. After it will come the Day of Justice. While there is still time,
let them have recourse to the fountain of My mercy. (Diary 848)
Tell souls about this great mercy of Mine, because the awful
day, the day of My justice, is near. (Diary 965).
I am prolonging the time of mercy for the sake of sinners.
But woe to them if they do not recognize this time of My visitation. (Diary 1160)
Before the Day of Justice, I am sending the Day of Mercy. (Diary 1588)
He who refuses to pass through the door of My mercy must
pass through the door of My justice. (Diary 1146).
In addition to these words of Our Lord Sr. Faustina gives us
the Words of the Mother of Mercy, the Blessed Virgin,
"You have to speak to the world about His great mercy and
prepare the world for the Second Coming of Him who will come, not as a merciful
Savior, but as a just Judge. Oh how terrible is that day! Determined is the day
of justice, the day of divine wrath. The angels tremble before it. Speak to
souls about this great mercy while it is still the time for granting mercy." (Diary 635).
We can always remember too that any of us can die at any time even before all this takes place. But we are to be always watchful and in constant prayer nevertheless.
Let us also pray for the grace of final perseverance.
Let us also pray for the grace of final perseverance.
Prayer to Obtain Final Perseverance (by St. Alphonsus Liguori)
Eternal Father, I Humbly Adore and Thank You, for having
Created me, and for having Redeemed me. I Thank You for having made me a
Christian, by giving me the True Faith, and for Adopting me as Your Child in
Baptism. I Thank You for having given me Time-to Repent, after my many Sins,
and for having Pardoned all my Offenses. I Renew my Sorrow for them, because I
have Displeased You. I Thank You also for having Preserved me from
Falling-again, as I would have done, if You had not Held me up, and Saved me.
But my Enemies, do not cease Fighting-against me, nor will they, until I Die.
If You do not Help me Continually, I will Lose Your Grace again. I, therefore,
Pray-for Perseverance till Death. Your Son Jesus, has Promised that You will
give us whatever we Ask-for in His Name. By the Merits-of Jesus Christ, I beg
You, for myself and for all those who are in Your Grace, the Grace-of
Never-more being Separated-from Your Love. May we always Love You in this Life,
and in the Next.
Mary, Mother of God, Pray to Jesus for me. So I Hope. So may
it be.
Amen
